Do you know someone who has diabetes? If you do, have you ever wondered what it is or what caused it?

Diabetes is a disease where your blood sugar is too high. Blood glucose is your main source of energy and you get that from food. When you have diabetes your body might not fight  back enough to have insulin or can’t use it as well it should be. There are also different types of diabetes.

Most people with type 1 diabetes, the immune system, that normally fights off infection, attacks and destroys the cells in the pancreas that make the insulin. Without insulin your blood rises. People that have type 1 diabetes have to take insulin everyday to stay alive.

Type 2 diabetes is the most common, and you can develop type 2 diabetes at any age. It often occurs in your mid ages. Physical inactivity can affect your chances of type 2 diabetes. When you have type 2 diabetes you can have extra weight that can be hard to lose.

If you’re experiencing frequent urination your body might be telling you that your kidneys are trying to expel excess sugar in your blood. If you have lack of fluids you can have a dry mouth and itchy skin. If you are experiencing increased hunger or unexpected weight loss, your body is not getting the energy that you need. Slow healing in cuts or sores is another sign of maybe having diabetes.  

If you have these symptoms I would see a doctor to maybe prevent having diabetes. If you already have diabetes and you don’t know what caused it, this might have helped you.
