Tricks of the light preforming one of their astonishing plays.

Imagine revisiting a time much simpler with dragons and wizards. Pretty cool, right? The Kansas City Renaissance festival is an event held every October. You can see plays, jousting, sword fighting, bungee jumping, even my personal favorite show Tricks Of The Light. They are a group of people specially trained to amaze you with dazzling performances with flaming swords, batons, and staffs. The renaissance festival has so many things to do and see plus it has some pretty fun souvenirs.

According to Wikipedia, “around 180,000 people go to this festival every year” just in Kansas so it’s bound to be fun right? Don’t believe me just ask some of these people. “It was really fun, I got to watch jousting and ride elephants, I would definitely suggest it to other people, “says Lacey Rust. Still not convinced? Ask Devin Mohling. “I had a great time there was really good foods and awesome rides. My favorite part was when I got a sword.  It may have been fake but it was really cool. I would love to go back probably with some friends.”

Anyway, my experience at the renaissance festival was a pretty wild one. As soon as I walked through the door I could see a replica of a dragon breathing fire. There were plenty of games like sword training, hatchet throwing, archery, and even getting to throw tomatoes at the local troublemaker. My favorite part of it was when there was this huge jousting show which ended into a sword fight to the death. Another good one was when there was this big gladiator tournament where you could rent a fake sword and have a huge battle. When I was there I felt like I was actually in medieval times and I really enjoyed it, especially when I was able to get my own sword.

Overall, the renaissance festival is a great event to go to if you are a fan of the middle ages and medieval-themed games, shows and experiences. A lot of people enjoy it including myself so I encourage you to head out and have some fun at the renaissance festival.
