Have you ever been to Emporia Kansas for the county fair? Every year in Emporia the fair runs from late July to early August. There is a tractor pull on August at 7 pm. Also, there is a demolition derby in August at 7 pm. A ton of people who go to the fair say it’s really fun to go on the rides and see the lights while going on a crazy ride. I got to interview some people about their experiences at the fair.

The Lyon county fair is also about 4-H. The 4-H part of it is where you can buy and sell animals and food for the animals. Another part of the fair is with 4-H they hold a food judging competition where the people in 4-H help prepare food to be judged. Some other places at the fair is the rides and food truck. There are around 20 rides and there are things to buy in food trucks. There are funnel cakes, lemon aid, pop, fries, and those are the main food choices. You can also buy light up toys and a whole lot of other toys and gadgets.

I interviewed my older sister Lillian about her experience at the fair, When she went to the Emporia carnival she had a fantastic experience. When she was there having fun she could smell fried pickles, hot dogs, and also funnel cakes. She could hear people screaming and laughing. Lillian would love to go back to the Emporia carnival to see the amazing lights and enjoy the carefree atmosphere.

Jasmine Grundleger had an amazingly exciting experience at the Lyon County Fair and was able to socialize. Jasmine heard tons of shouting and shouts of joy. Jasmine also, smelt funnel cakes, buttered popcorn, and the metal from the rides. Jasmine would love to go back but she would prefer to be with a group of friends so it’s more enjoyable.

I interviewed my other sister Brittany and she went to the fair this summer and she said it was an enjoyable but she was scared at the same time. When she was there she heard screams of terror and laughter, she smelt funnel cake, popcorn, and cotton candy. She said she would love to go back but only with a group of people.

The fair happens every year and we the people think it’s a way to bring everyone together. Most of us think that almost everyone that goes there to have fun will have exactly that. Emporia is lucky to have a fair that is this wonderful. I hope if you ever go you will have an amazing experience at the Lyon County Fair.
