“ I have LeBron number 2 all time, in the history of basketball. He ain’t number 1 though we know who the hell that is.”, says analyst Stephen A. Smith, as the picture of the top 5 players of all time show up with Michael Jordan at the top. G.O.A.T is short for Greatest Of All Time. Most people consider Tom Brady the GOAT but I personally believe Michael Jordan is the greatest athlete the world has ever seen.

Michael went to Emsley A. Laney High School in Wilmington, North Carolina, where he played under the legendary coach Clifton “Pop” Herring. Michael did not make the Varsity team his Sophomore year due to the lack of height at 5 ’11, But after a six inch growth spurt that summer he made the team in the fall of his Junior year. On Junior Varsity as a Sophomore he had multiple 40 point games but never got called up for any Varsity minutes. In his Senior year he led Laney to a state championship but fell just short of the title. Mike was selected as a McDonald’s All-American, where he dropped 30 points in the game. Michael then went to the University of North Carolina where he played 3 years (1981-1983). He averaaged 17.7 points per game as a Tar Heel and shot 50.4% from the field. The Tar Heels went 88-13 with Michael there along with a National Championship in 1982. Michael was drafted in the 1984 NBA draft 3rd overall by the Chicago Bulls.

During his first season he won rookie of the year. He missed most of the following season with a broken foot, but he returned to the NBA and averaged 33 points per game. He was the second person to score 3,000 points in a season (behind Wilt Chamberlain). Michael would then win the NBA Most Valuable Player in 1988, 1991, and 1992. Michael led the Bulls alongside Scottie Pippen to 3 consecutive NBA Championships where he won the Finals MVP in all 3! Mike then would retire in October of 1993 to pursue a professional career in baseball. He would end up making the Chicago White Sox AA team the Birmingham Barons. Michael batted just .202, in 497 at bats he drew 51 walks, he was also tied for 5th in steals with 30 in the Southern League. He played outfield and accounted for 11 errors in the outfield. Michael hit 3 home runs before retiring from baseball to go back to the NBA in March of 1995.

When he returned to the NBA, Michael led the Windy City to a 72-10 record which was the best record in NBA history until it was broken by the 2015-2016 Golden State Warriors. The Bulls struggled with rebounding and grabbing loose balls so Michael recruited the Pistons hustle player Dennis Rodman “The Worm.” Although this man was crazy, head Hall of Fame coach Phil Jackson said he could handle him. Michael won the NBA finals in 1996 winning the MVP in that as well. Again Mike would win 2 more NBA Championships in 1997, and 1998, winning the MVP in each. Jordan retired in 1998 then came back and played for the Wizards for two more seasons in 2001 and 2002.

Michael Jordan signed a deal with Nike for his shoes. In my opinion Michael Jordan is the greatest person to ever touch a basketball. The argument for LeBron I can see, but I think that Michael is better. All the links to where I found everything is under this paragraph!
