The Hearts of Paris

Paris! A busy city where romance, food, art, and architecture create the Paris that we know today. I’ll be writing about 3 structures that are extremely important to Paris and why they are so important.

Eiffel Tower: The Eiffel Tower you probably have heard about and all of its wonders. According to Google.com, “the Eiffel is at least 1,063 feet tall (from the ground to the tip) , that is bigger than the Washington Monument”(Google.com). The Eiffel Tower was the biggest building for at least a century until the Statue of Liberty was built. Another interesting fact about the Eiffel Tower is that more than 7 million people a year visit the tower.  Since 1889, people have come from all over the world to come see this famous structure in all the seasons. Talking about the Eiffel Tower, did you know that it is one of the most romantic places in the whole wide world? The Eiffel Tower is my “must have date”, especially at night. The reason why at night, is because the Eiffel Tower’s lights light up the night sky and it would just be the most amazing thing to experience.

Notre Dame: The Notre Dame: a place full of wonder, history, and religion. I’ll be sharing with you all three of these wonders that makes the Notre Dame, the Notre Dame. The first thing you need to know about the Notre Dame is that it is a Catholic Church that is still in use to this day. A fact about the architecture of the Notre Dame is that there are a lot of gargoyles. The gargoyles are believed to scare away the evil spirits with their terrifying structure. According to softschool.com,”13 million people visit the Notre Dame every year, that’s more than the visitors the Eiffel Tower gets”(softschool.com). Talking about the Notre Dame wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the Disney Film “Hunchback of Notre Dame”. This movie was based on a book by Victor Hugo to increase the public appearance of the church. The purpose of this movie was fulfilled when thousands of people visited more and more every year.

The Louvre Museum: The last famous structure I want to mention is The Louvre Museum. This museum is where some of the famous paintings are located, such as the Mona Lisa. Also right next to the Louvre Museum is the famous Louvre Pyramid (there are some more famous paintings in this triangular building). “The Mona Lisa” by: Leonardo Da Vinci is one of the most memorable and famous paintings in the Louvre.  Another most famous statue in the Louvre is the “Psyche Revived by Cupid’s Kiss” created by Antonio Canova.

Now you know some information about these 3 structures that are important to Paris. I hope you enjoyed learning about some of Paris’ most memorable structures. If you do go to Paris here’s a link on some French phrases that would be useful (http://www.frenchlearner.com/vocabulary/essential/).
