German Shepherds

This is my dog Chief.

Have you heard of a German Shepherd? If you have not I am going to tell you about them. German Shepherds are big dogs that  shed a lot they have pointy ears and are hyper.

German Shepherds are watchdogs: for when there is something wrong. A German Shepherd will bark and their bark is sufficient to alert. They’re protective about their family and territory. They are extremely loyal, obedient, watchful, courageous, intelligent, curious, confident, and alert people that there could be danger.  However, without proper training and socialization they can become extremely fearful.

“German Shepherd Dogs are everywhere! As one of the most active dog breeds working today, you see GSDs (German Shepherds) in airports, subway stations, and even Times Square. These dogs serve as police K-9s, military working dogs, search and rescue dogs, and much more”  (www.akc.org).

I have a German Shepherd mix. His name is Chief. He is 2 years old and is a German Shepherd/Mastiff mix. He is hyper, protective, and likes to play all the time. When around people he does not know he can get very hyper, and he is trained to stop.

In conclusion, I hope you learned something about German Shepherds. I hope that someday you are able to get one.  The best thing about owning a German Shepherd is that they are very protective. One thing I don’t like about German Shepherds is that they shed a lot so you have to clean the house a lot.
