Should Students Who Play Sports in the School Year Still have to take Gym class?

Students who play sports, should not have to take gym class. One reason is that athletes get all the exercise they need from playing sports. Another reason athletes should not take gym is that their bodies need to heal and rest, and kids need to also focus on their education. 

Athletes have all of the exercise that they need from playing a sport. They have practice for two or three hours plus after practice they will focus on plays and drills and then do it. Also, the coaches are very hard on you to get it right and you are basically doing the same things as P.E. but you are doing it at a higher level. 

 

While you play sports in practice, games, meets, you will get hurt from whatever you are doing. Your body needs time to heal and rest, so athletes need to have a long break from doing any active activities such as PE. They will most likely will have injuries to recover from. Experts from Michigan State University had stated that “Athletes understand the importance of exercise training for optimal performance and improvement. However, rest and recovery is also an important aspect of an exercise program because it allows the body time to repair and strengthen itself in between workouts. It also allows the athlete to recover, both physically and psychologically”(Michigan Spartans recovery site).

Hardworking athletes in schools need to focus on their education. They need to be focused in class, from all of the stuff that that student has learned of new drills, plays, exercises plus all of the school-work that they have missed from doing sports. They won’t be able to learn for one day and be fine! They would have to go to study hall to get all the piles work done and updated. 

Students who play sports should not still have to take gym class. They get all the exercise that they need, bodies need time to heal and rest, and kids need to focus on their education! If you play sports you should not be able to take gym class it’s a waste of time of doing the same sport again and not being able to get all of the work done by yourself and or with that specific teacher.
