Did you know that the foam used in the movie Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was made from basic fire extinguisher foam, which caused the actors to have serious problems and took several days to recover. If you haven’t heard, there is going to be a showing of Willy Wonka performed by middle schoolers of EMS. There might not be fire extinguisher foam, but it sounds really cool. To get ready for the performances I interviewed two cast members of Willy Wonka. But first, let’s learn a little more about this famous story.

Before Willy Wonka was a movie, it was originally a book written by Roald Dahl in 1964. It was about how the different chocolate companies would send spies acting as the employees to get their secrets. Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was released in 1971, then Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was released in 2005. 

Here is a sneak peek interview with two of the cast members of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. First, I interviewed CJ Elstun and this is what he said. What is the best part of being in the show? The best part of being in the show is actually getting involved with something other than sports cause I feel like if someone is getting involved then they are going to do sports. How is the show going? The show is going pretty good, I feel like we are where we need to be in terms of how far we are. What are you working on currently? I’m working on my lines. What is the worst part of being in the show? The worst part of being in the show is staying late and not getting food. What is your part in the show? I am Mr Salt, Veruca Salt’s dad.

Next, I interviewed Sam Ralston. What is the best part of being in the show? I would say the best part is all the people and Ms. Jones, she is amazing. How do you think the show is going? Really good, cause I think everyone is learning their part. What is the worst part of being in the show? How you have to go home late, and there is no activity bus, and having to ask someone for a ride cause you don’t have one. What are you working on currently? We are working on finishing up the show, so like running the different halves. What is your part in the show? I am a candy man kid and a squirrel.

I don’t know about you but I am really excited to see the production. If you haven’t watched the original movie, I would recommend watching it if you are planning on seeing the show. The Musical will be performed on April 21st and 22nd at the Highschool stage.
