Today I will be talking about my personal favorite animal. That animal is a Giraffe! This article will tell you all I know and everything I learned from websites.

The first thing that makes a giraffe a giraffe is “The male Giraffe is both taller and weighs more than the female”(https://onekindplanet.org/animal/giraffe/). This means that it would be easy to tell apart a female from a male, you could be able to see the height difference in the weight. Like when I went to the zoo I could tell that the bigger giraffe was most likely a male

What most people don’t know is giraffes are called “Giraffa Camelopardalis”(http://www.nationalgeographic.com/animals/mammals/g/giraffe/).They got this name from scientist believing that they are a mixture of a camel and a leopard! WOW! That’s cool! I told my family about it the next time we went to the zoo,and they were confused at first but then I explained it and then they understood.

But that’s not all I have. Let’s talk a little about their sleep style. “All in all Adult Giraffes can get by on just 30 minutes of sleep a night”  (https://onekindplanet.org/animal/giraffe/)!During the day they just take short nap of 5 minutes. You might be wondering why they sleep for a short amount of time, and that is because when “they take naps in the wild they only want to sleep for short amounts of time because they are so big that they are easy targets for other animals”(https://onekindplanet.org/animal/giraffe/). I always wondered why they are almost always awake and active instead of asleep.
