I’ve always been in awe of how modern Japan has become. Japan looks very futuristic with all of its machines and technology. The cities are so colorful with all of the signs and neon lights everywhere. Going there is a big dream of mine. I’ve watched shows that take place in Japan, so that’s a big part of the reason. I’ve also seen a few TikToks that were made in Japan and the people look like they’re having a lot of fun. Saying I’ve been to Japan would be really great.

Convenience stores in Japan seem really interesting. They have almost everything. You can get your own drink mixes and cups of ice to make your own drink. You get to choose from a variety of snacks that seem very different from what we have here in America. Everything looks really organized and stocked up most of the time too.

Seeing how people interact with each other in different countries is also fun. Finding out what’s normal and what’s weird somewhere other than your home country is an experience not a lot of people have had. I want to know what people in Japan find interesting or what they find normal. For example, in Japan, I know that people call other people by their last names unless they’re close, but here we just call everybody by their first name. Visiting Japan would be wonderful, but what about living there? Seeing how people live their lives there in Japan sounds very enticing. I often wonder what people do while hanging out with their friends. Do they do the same things people do here? In Japan, most people take a bus or subway to get places. In a small city like Emporia, we usually just use cars to get everywhere. There are a lot of other things about Japan that are different like the houses and apartments.

The architecture in Japan seems really diverse. From historical buildings to basic houses to modern buildings, everything just looks so different. The way places are laid out is also cool. There will be restaurants in little alleyways and huge company buildings out in the open. Thinking about it makes me wonder, is it easy to get lost in Japan?

Like I said earlier, I’ve seen many examples of Japan from shows and TikTok I’ve watched, so that’s a big reason I want to go to Japan. I always enjoy learning more and more about the country.
