Did you know that LEGO has factories all over the world? Perhaps you have wondered about other people’s history with LEGO. Or maybe you have wondered about all the different types of LEGO pieces. Possibly you have thought about the themes of sets that LEGO has. Well in this article you will learn more about all those things and learn some new fun LEGO facts.
My history with LEGO
When you think of LEGO you might think of the small LEGO brick. But those bricks are only designed for children older than 3. I was under three when I started building, and I built with a mix of many types of blocks including wood blocks, Mega Blocks, and LEGO Duplo, which are just LEGO but twice as big. As I got older, I started to build with the regular-sized LEGO blocks. At the beginning of my LEGO building career, I would make bad creations with no color scheme. Now I build better, more correctly colored builds. I prefer to build “My Own Creations” or “MOCs” because sets can be fun but someone else might have the exact same set and they would be no different. I just recently won an award at the Kansas State Fair for one of my MOCs in the LEGO 4-H project.
LEGO pieces
Did you know that originally the LEGO bricks did not have tubes in the middle of them making it so they were not sturdy? Another fun fact about LEGO pieces is that there are more minifigures in the world than actual people. LEGO has 3764 different pieces including tiles, plates, normal bricks, and all sorts of other fun parts. I have many fun LEGO pieces in my collection that I like to use in my many builds. Some of the pieces that I use in my everyday builds are just regular pieces, but I also like to employ SNOT (studs not on top) in my creations to make them not just straight up and down. I also like adding landscaping and plants or other natural features.
LEGO themes
Did you know that there are over 40 LEGO themes? LEGO has many themes to fit all your interests. They have themes from movies like Indiana Jones and Star Wars. They also have themes that are made up like LEGO City and LEGO Friends. They even have sets made up by random people. Each LEGO theme has many different sets for you to choose from. In my opinion, the best LEGO theme is LEGO Ideas because anyone can make a LEGO build and submit it for people to decide if it should be a set. And therefore it has a wider range of set types and sizes.
To wrap all this up, I have had an extensive history with LEGO going from playing with Duplo to winning awards at the state fair. In my builds, I use lots of the fun pieces that LEGO has. Finally, with many different themes based on books and movies, and also some ideas from people outside of LEGO, LEGO is an awesome toy. If you want to get some LEGO sets and fun pieces you can order off of LEGO.
