Have you ever thought about skydiving? Me neither, but I’ve done something similar to skydiving. I tried indoor skydiving. It’s made to feel like skydiving, but you’re inside. The way it gives “the skydiving feeling” is a big fan. It blows out air at high speeds and it’s so fast you literally float! Enough about the boring facts, here’s my experience with indoor skydiving.
So, before I was able to skydive I had to do three things: almost have a panic attack, a bit of training, and putting on the suit and helmet. The staff had me and some random people go into a little room and they went over the form for when you’re skydiving. They also taught us some hand signals so they could tell you what to do when you’re skydiving. When we got out of the room we went and got the suits that fit, got some helmets, put them on, and then we headed to the big fan thingy.
They led me into a small room connected to a big glass tube with a huge fan at the bottom and it was really loud because the fan was blowing at like 100 mph. The first person went in and it looked like they were floating. Then it was finally my turn. I “belly flopped” onto the fan and I was flying! But I only had like 2 minutes until I had to stop and let other people go. When it was my turn again they did something different. They grabbed the handles on the side of my suit and then went up to around the top of the tube and then back down and they did that for a few times.
Once the last person had gone, they had us step out and take off our suits and helmets. I remember kinda struggling to get my suit off. When I was done struggling to get my suit off they gave me a certificate. It said that I had done this and that and whatever. It had “iFly” in big bold letters at the top. And after I got the certificate, I thought “that I was glad I did it” because I almost chickened out.
There is a lesson to be learned in this though. And it is to try something new even if it looks scary. If you’re scared to try something new, go along with it! Don’t be afraid to try something new, I did and it was super fun. Some activities that might be scary at first are horseback riding, amusement parks, ziplining, and bungee jumping.
