Have you ever wondered what it feels like to play football? I’m going to share everything that I felt, tasted, and heard; everything I needed to be successful in playing.
It all started last summer when I had to go to weights. After weights and the football camp that the coaches were doing, we had to do pad checkouts. We got all our pads and everything fitted and put in our lockers. Then practices started. We ran and did walk-throughs. I felt the sweet relief of taking my helmet off. All I tasted was the sweat that was dripping on my lip from my forehead. I could feel the cold water on my chest and my head after I put it on myself. Then I felt myself putting my helmet back on after our little break. After practice, I took my helmet off and drank some more water. A few weeks went by and our first game was that Thursday against Osage. We won that game against Osage. The 7th-grade team did great.
Then we had games every Thursday after that and practice every day after school. Our first home game was against Eisenhower. It was a tough game. All I could feel was me blocking and tackling the person that I was guarding or tackling. The entire game all I could taste was sweat dripping off my lip. That’s all I could really feel and taste during our games.
Our last game was on October 10th and you could really see that we changed from the very first game to last. Everyone changed in different categories. Some people got faster, stronger, smarter, and were working a lot harder. After the season was over, I missed it. If you ever really wanna play, you could gain a lot from playing it and have some experiences.
That’s all I felt during our games and practices. It was a fun experience to play football in middle school. Although it was fun, it went by really fast. If you ever want to play football as something to do or get fit, then do it while you still can. You also might feel the same things and taste what I did when you play.
