About 2 years ago, I was in a car, being driven through the twists and turns along the mountains. Out of the window, I saw what looked like an endless mountain range of the Ozark Mountains. That was my experience while going to Eureka Springs, a small town in North-West Arkansas. To this day it has still remained the coolest place I’ve ever traveled to.
It all started in Branson, Missouri. We spent 3 days in Branson at the attractions, restaurants, and all the other cool things Branson has to offer. Once it was time to leave, my mom considered that a small town named Eureka Springs, which she had been to before, was near Branson. We talked about it and since there was no school for 2 more days, we went to Eureka Springs for a day. I wasn’t too happy about it since I thought it would just be a town on a mountain, and tremendous leg pain, but it was way different than I thought. We went to a CVS and got medicine because my mom was about to puke, and then we were on our way to Eureka Springs.
As we were driving through the mountains, I started regretting what I said. It felt like the mountain range would never end on the hour-long drive. Once we got there, I saw all of the unique stores like a nut house, a collectible shop, a board game shop, and lots more. We walked for a while and we decided to go into a T-shirt shop called Tee-Rex. It had tons of memorabilia, Pokémon cards, and obviously, T-shirts. I asked my dad if I could pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty please get some Pokémon cards and he let me since we were on vacation. Next, we walked down some very scary-looking stairs because there was some ice cream store there that my mom liked the last time she was there.
After that, we left we walked down some sketchy wooden stairs to an ice cream shop. As it turned out, it was closed for some reason even though it was open hours, so we went to our next destination, the Crescent Hotel. The Crescent Hotel was a hotel that turned into a college that turned into an evil doctor’s hospital. The doctor would “inadvertently” end/ruin his patient’s life trying to find a cure for cancer so some say it’s very haunted. We started at the first floor, which had a gift shop.
We went up the stairs and walked through some hallways and we got to a bar and pizza place called Skybar. It was a bar on a balcony going over the outdoor area of the hotel. I had some amazing pizza and then we went down to the outdoor area. There was a giant chess set and a pool and I beat my dad in a giant chess game. Then we went through a trail in a forest and saw a memorial for all the people who died from the doctor’s experiments. After that, we went back to our car and we started to leave.
Once we got in the car, I started playing a game and felt sick. We stopped by a nature area on top of a mountain which made me even more sick. I fell asleep and woke up parked at a gas station and I got Flamin’ Hot Mountain Dew, which didn’t help with my sickness at all. We went through the roads which constantly turned and once I got home, I immediately puked.
Overall, the trip to Eureka Springs was very fun, and I still enjoyed it even after puking. It was a fun place that I hope to go to again. If you ever get the chance, I would definitely encourage you to go there. One thing I wouldn’t do though, is try Flamin’ Hot Mountain Dew. And that was my experience in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.
