Do you ever forget something at home and can’t text your parents on your phone for them to bring it to school for you? Well, that’s why we should be allowed to have our phones in class. These are my three reasons for why we should be allowed to have phones in class. My first reason is phones can keep us more safe in case of an emergency. My second reason is there are a lot of learning apps on our phones that can help us learn more easily. My third reason is Organization because phones have a lot of tools.
Emergencies
My first reason that cellphones should be allowed in the classroom is for emergencies. Phones can come in handy for emergencies. They’re good for contacting people. To call the police for any lockdowns or for fires you can call the fire department. Yes, I get that a teacher could have their phone with them. But what happens if they forget it inside the classroom because they were rushing? If we could have our phones, there’s going to be a student that can call for them. Parentingskillsblog.com says that “If there is an emergency at school that would require calling the police, fire or ambulance services the response time is much shorter for an observing student to use their cell phone rather than finding one at the school.” This means that it would be easier to use a student’s phone that they could have in their pockets than having to go look for a school phone.
Learning apps
My second reason is that there are a lot of learning apps. On our phones, there are a lot of learning apps that could help us learn and there are also a lot of tools that we need to learn better. According to resilienteducator.com, “The Apple Store had 800 apps the month of its launch in July 2008. As of January 2017, it had 2.2 million. How many educational apps are there? According to New America, as of June 2015, there were over 80,000 educational apps available in the app store.” This means that there are a lot of learning apps where we can learn faster and the teachers could take a break from teaching because we would be learning on our phones. Yes, I get that students could cheat on work assignments or tests but most kids aren’t like that and would actually use it for good.
Organization
My third reason is organization because there are a lot of tools that could help us be organized. According to findmykids.org, “Many students struggle to stay organized. It can be hard to keep track of homework, schedules, assignments, exams, and so on. Phones make organization easier. They come with calendar apps and other handy tools to help kids organize their lives and become more independent.” This means that phones have a lot of tools to help stay organized. Alarms are a good organization tool. You can set up alarms to know when work is due so kids don’t forget to work on it. Also, there is a calendar on our phones that could help us stay organized and on track with our work.
Cell phones should be allowed in school. The reasons are emergencies, learning apps, and organization. Overall phones would keep us more safe and also would help us learn in a more enjoyable way. It would also make school more fun. This is why every school should allow phones. For most of the kids, it would be helpful and not a destination. Now that you know facts about why phones should be allowed in school, go talk to your teachers, counselors, and principals about it, and let’s make them allow phones in school.
