Have you ever wanted a pet, but you don’t feel like you should have to spend so much time and hard-earned money taking care of it? Maybe you want a companion, but you don’t always want to be smothered by fur? Well then, maybe getting a cat is the right choice for you. Cats are extraordinary pets because they reduce the risks of dying from a heart attack, they give their owners a sense of purpose, and cats are great for people who live in an apartment because they are small, quiet, and don’t require constant attention.
The first main point in this article is that owning a cat reduces the rate of dying of a heart attack. According to Jackie Brown, “In 2009, a decades-long study was published in the Journal of Vascular and Interventional Neurology that demonstrated that cat owners were less likely to die from heart attacks, cardiovascular disease, and stroke when compared to people who did not own cats.” This means that people who own cats are less likely to die from heart attacks, cardiovascular disease, or strokes.
My second point on this topic is that having a cat gives people a sense of purpose. According to Brody Wooddell, “Caring for a cat can provide a sense of responsibility and purpose, which can be especially beneficial for older adults or those who may be feeling a bit lost in life. Having a furry companion to care for can provide motivation and a sense of accomplishment.” This means that people who have cats feel more accomplished and like they have a purpose.
The third point in this article is that cats are independent. According to the article, What Are The Benefits of Owning A Cat, “Cats are also perfectly happy in their own company. Cats are much more independent than dogs and don’t really need the same amount of attention paid to them. Unlike dogs, domestic cats weren’t bred to spend a huge amount of time around humans and therefore are more than capable of fitting in their life around ours.” This means that cats are more independent, and they are the perfect pet for anyone who lives in an apartment. They don’t take up much space, they are quiet, so they won’t annoy anyone in neighboring apartments, and they are perfectly fine being in their own company, so you don’t always have to be watching them to make sure they don’t destroy anything.
So, to conclude, cats reduce the rate of dying from a heart attack, cats give their owners a sense of purpose, and cats are independent. For all these reasons, cats make wonderful pets. Personally, I think that cats are amazing cats because even though they are mainly solitary creatures, they choose to spend time with you. Go to your local animal shelter and adopt a cat so that you too can own one of these amazing companions. (Link to Emporia, Kansas animal shelter.)
