Have you ever started a fire? If you have, you’ll know that it is really hot and bright. In this article, I’m going to review the safety of fire/ how safe it is, how to use it/what it’s used for, and how it impacts people who use it.
So how safe is fire really? Fire is 1112–1800° F so it’s scalding hot. That’s so hot, you don’t even need to directly touch it to get burnt. I’ve experienced it myself, I touched metal that was really close to a fire once and it’s super painful. It can be even more dangerous depending on the place you start it, if you were to start it in a forest it would spread and make a super dangerous forest fire(if not stopped). So overall I’d rate the safety of fire a 3/10.
The time I usually use fire is when I start the fire in the fire pit and it illuminates the surrounding area which brings me to my first point, which is that people used to use it for light and on special occasions today people also use it for light (like if the power went out). People also use it for warmth. The fireplace in my house produces a lot of heat, we can only have it on for about an hour before it gets too hot. Overall, I’d rate the use of fire 9/10.
Now for how it impacts people. Fire basically started “our hunger for new inventions”, it allowed our ancestors to be able to have warmth and protection against predators. Fire still brings warmth to people today, there are people who get their heat in their house from a fire and fire alone. We also cook almost everything over a fire and without that many people would go hungry. People start fires to just have fun when camping which mentally and physically brightens their day. I’d rate it a 9/10.
Taking everything into account, fire is a 7/10 overall. It can really help people when you know what you’re doing. If you don’t know what you’re doing you could get yourself or someone else hurt. So next time you see a fire just know fires are dangerous but helpful.
