Did you know that as of February 2023, approximately 36,592 Subway stores were open? This must mean that they’re the best sandwich store, right? Well, that might not be true, so I’ll decide if Subway or Goodcents is the best from three things, the freshness, toppings, and chips. Freshness will discuss how often they replace the food, and how fresh the food tastes in general. The toppings section will discuss the amount of toppings (cheese, vegetables, and sauce) and which toppings I think are better. The last section will discuss the chips they have, and I’ll rank them by the amount of choices, and which chips I think are better.
Goodcents wins the freshness round by a mile. Subway restocks their items once every day. Goodcents, on the other hand, restocks twice a day. Also, I can eat a Goodcents sandwich with no sauce, and it will still be amazing. But when I eat a Subway sandwich without sauce, it just feels cold and bland.
Subway wins for toppings by count and the variety of choices. Goodcents has 26 toppings in total, while Subway has 8 more, with 34. Subway has better choices, with options like red onions, vinegar, and spinach, which I enjoy all of on a sandwich. Goodcents is a smaller company though, being in only nine states, while Subway is in 96 countries. Liechtenstein, a nation of only 62 mi², even has a Subway. Also, Subway shreds lettuce better and I always get lettuce on my sandwich.
Finally, Goodcents wins for the chips. Goodcents and Subway both have 7 choices for chips, so I’m going to go off of what the chips are. Both restaurants have Original and Baked Lay’s, Miss Vickie’s Jalapeno, Nacho Cheese Doritos, and Cheddar Sun Chips. Each restaurant has its own two unique chips, Cool Ranch Doritos and Barbecue Lay’s at Subway, then Original Cheetos and Salt and Vinegar Miss Vickie’s at Goodcents. I like both Miss Vickie’s and Cheetos more than Subway’s choices so that means Goodcents will get the win.
Therefore, Goodcents has won the review with 2 points and Subway with 1. Now, next time you have the choice between Subway and Goodcents, go for Goodcents. The research I did taught me a lot of things, like how Goodcents started in Kansas, and that Subway was started by a 17-year-old boy. Now we know that just because Subway is more popular, doesn’t mean it is the best.
