Ah, the holiday all of us know and some of us love. For some, it’s about the beauty and warmth of new love that blooms just like the flowers outside. For others, it just represents something to ignore, some holiday to skip because we’ve been hurt or it’s just a waste of time. Valentine’s Day is a holiday about all the love in the world, and some ways different cultures celebrate them. Now, obviously, in the United States, people gift their loved ones chocolate and flowers and sweet little gifts. But in Germany, couples give each other chocolate pigs and gingerbread, while in Denmark, people give one another white roses and play guessing games. In India, gift-giving is common, and in Finland and Estonia, Valentine’s Day is about both friends and significant others, while in Wales, people give each other handcrafted wooden spoons. It’s so sweet, maybe you should just visit your dentist.
