We all know the king of the jungle, a title given to lions because of their majestic qualities, like a male lion’s mane or their intense sense of pride. But I’m here to disprove that, because I think that tigers are the real kings of the jungle.
Size
Despite common belief, tigers are actually bigger than lions. They are longer and just weigh more overall. According to Lions vs. Tigers — 5 Key Differences, the max length of a tiger is 390 centimeters, or 12.9 feet, while the max length of a lion is 208 centimeters, or 6.8 feet. The max weight of a tiger is 300 kilograms, or 660 pounds, while the max weight of a lion is 225 kilograms, or 496 pounds. So, sorry to you lion lovers, the mighty beast called the tiger is the winner.
Strength
I know this will probably surprise most of you, but tigers are stronger than lions. They generally have more muscle mass, and overall body strength, as said by Who Will Win: A Lion Or A Tiger. While it might be true that lions have a stronger bite, tigers still manage to top them in two other terms of strength. The muscles in their bodies, and just have more natural strength. So, once again, tigers win this match.
Location
This has confused me for a while now. Lions are called the king of the jungle, but they don’t even live in the jungle. Usually, at least in Africa, they are mainly located in savannas. Tigers live in rainforests or just in jungles. And yes, it’s true that lions have more ground, ranging from Africa to Europe to Asia, tigers are only found in Asia. So, they are mainly found in tropical areas, like jungles or rainforests. So even though lions have more ground on tigers, tigers are more easily found in jungles. You know, where the king of the jungle is supposed to be.
Conclusion
To conclude, tigers are bigger, generally stronger, and are actually located where the king of the jungle is supposed to be, in the jungle. While the gap in size and strength isn’t a lot, it is enough. And yes, lions are more scattered around the globe, but tigers are still mainly located where the king of the jungle is supposed to be. So, of course, tigers are the true king of the jungle, not lions.
