A year after Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour launched in March, her concert film debuted on-screen in millions of homes for the first time ever. There was the cinema debut, the available-for-rent debut, and finally the streaming debut. Thank God she put it on Disney+. At first I was hesitant to watch the movie, afraid that it would never come close to the true IRL concert experience – and many can argue that it doesn’t come close at all. I’d seen the trailers more than a couple dozen times, clips all over the internet, and even the first 15 minutes on a certain website (desperate times call for desperate measures, okay). I had no idea what to expect. Now in the present, I can safely say that I don’t and will never, ever (like, ever) regret having watched the Eras Tour movie. It is now without a doubt my favorite movie, and here’s why. As I said, one thing I was skeptical about was whether or not the movie would be able to compare to the actual concert. I mean, I’ve never actually gone to the Eras Tour but I’d say it comes pretty close. I watched most of the movie with my baby brother (my other brothers are loud and they’re haters) and it felt almost like I was there in the moment. I watched some of the movie while FaceTiming one of my friends and we had a good time. Second, I’m glad that the full version is the one put on streaming and not the one missing certain songs. I applaud the editor, they did a great job. The crowd was great too and I could hear some chants during the songs. Also, the 2 extra acoustic set songs were really cool and I just love how it really felt like you were there even while you’re in your pajamas just screaming Taylor Swift songs in your living room. The effects were fun too, and I loved the choreo. I totally recommend Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) to anyone who’s interested, including non-Swifties and casual listeners. It scored 99% on Rotten Tomatoes. The film is not currently available to watch at B&B Theaters but it’s available on Disney+ to stream and available to rent on Prime Video, Vudu, YouTube TV, and a few other platforms. If all else fails, I do have a website up my sleeve where you can watch the concert film for free, but I hope we don’t have to resort to that (email me if you’re desperate I guess). Enjoy the movie!
