A lot of people know you shouldn’t stare at a solar eclipse because you’ll get blinded. You might be asking why it blinds you, or what a solar eclipse even is, and that’s what I’ll answer in this story. First of all, what is a solar eclipse? A solar eclipse is when the moon goes in front of the sun and leaves a shadow on the Earth. A lunar eclipse, on the other hand, is when the shadow of the Earth goes onto the moon, making the moon dark and red. Solar eclipses can only be seen from certain parts of the world. This year, the solar eclipse will be visible from Emporia! So why do solar eclipses blind you? In solar eclipses, the sun has some light coming from behind the moon, so the sun’s rays are very concentrated when they reach the Earth. Normal sun rays can already damage your eyes, but since they’re coming from less area, they damage your eyes way more and blind you. Remember to stay safe and wear your eclipse glasses. Toodles.
