Did you know that soccer is the most popular game in the world? Soccer is the sport that I enjoy the most because for me it’s really fun. Today I’m going to tell you why I like running and kicking a ball for an hour. And why soccer is a part of my life and my story about it.
My family and why soccer is the sport that they play
Soccer is the sport that my family plays. My dad grew up in El Salvador and played soccer there for a long time. Soccer is a popular sport in El Salvador. My dad is named after a famous soccer player in Brazil in the 1960’s. My dad played soccer when he was young and he was doing good, but then he broke his knee so he couldn’t play anymore. But that didn’t stop him from having to do something with soccer. So, he became a soccer coach and helped kids get better at the sport. And now he’s my coach because he always helps me and teaches me more skills. I have a cousin from my dad’s side of the family. He has had a good story with soccer. He has been playing since he was 12 years old. He also played in the school. Then he went to high school and played there and was doing well. When he went to college, he got a scholarship for playing well. When he was in college, the Sporting Kansas City asked him to go play for them so he did. He played there for a long time until he was done with school. But now he just plays for a small team here “just for fun” because he has free time and soccer was a big part of his life. My mom has never played soccer but she likes it and thinks it’s a good sport. Her family doesn’t really have anything to do with soccer because they don’t play it but they do watch it.
How I started playing soccer
Soccer is a sport that I think is cool and fun because you’re running and kicking a ball and that’s something I enjoy doing in my freetime. I started playing in a team when I was in 5th grade and I have played soccer with friends and family just for fun since I was little. I liked soccer but I wasn’t sure if I wanted to be on a team. But I had this one friend and she played for a team at the rec center and she told me to join her team so I decided to join her. When I told my dad that I wanted to join a team he was happy for me. That was in 5th grade and I enjoyed playing soccer in a team and playing with her. We would help each other on the field. And the coach was good. Going to practice was fun. So, then I realized that soccer was a thing that I really liked doing. We ended the season very well and we lost 2 out of 11 games. In 6th grade, I played again and I had a different team but I still enjoyed playing. My teammates were good and nice to each other and the team did good too because it was hard for other teams to beat us. In 7th grade this year I played for the middle school but it wasn’t good because the coaches weren’t really good and they lost all of the games because they didn’t put the right people on the field. I didn’t like playing in middle school but that didn’t stop me from liking soccer. I might play for a team this year that’s outside of middle school.
The fun times with my family while watching soccer/playing
Watching soccer with my family is so fun. My dad and I like watching when EL Salvador plays, that’s the team we watch the most. We also like watching World Cups. We like to see what team is doing well. My family and I have gone to an El Salvador game but that was when I was younger so I don’t really remember a lot. But they did win and that was good. I have also gone to Kansas City to watch a Kansas City Sporting’s game. We went to watch my cousin because he was playing. It was fun being there and we had a good view so we could see the game very well. Also, when we go to El Salvador there are a lot of teams that go against each other but they do it just for fun. So when we go we always go watch them when they play, and it’s outside and it’s fun to watch and we buy snacks because they are making food everywhere and it’s always good. We also like to play soccer just for fun. When I was younger I would play soccer in the neighborhood with my cousins and some neighbors. Those times were the best; we would always get the ball stuck under a car. Last summer, we would always go to a field and pass around the ball. I go with my dad, my sister, and my mom comes with us just to watch and we have a lot of fun and enjoy the time, not just because we are playing soccer but just to be spending time with family and having us together doing something we all love.
That’s why I like soccer. It’s the sport that my family grew up with and I also enjoy playing it too. I have tried other sports but I just don’t enjoy them more than I do when I play soccer. Soccer is a good sport. I hope you enjoy it too.
