The first thing you need is to condition yourself so that you will be in good shape. You need to be in good shape because you have to go hours straight of playing football. A couple of ways you can get better is jumping rope. Jumping rope will help with quick feet, balance, and also focusing. Another way is lateral drills. That will help speed training drills and require you to accelerate, stop, and burst without you losing balance. The last way I’m going to tell you about is agility drills. That will also improve your balance, and also acceleration. Different positions in football all need conditioning, but they might be for different things. Running backs, wide receivers, cornerbacks, and safeties all need conditioning because they have to run up and down the field. Running backs will have the ball and try to get to the touchdown, and that’s same with wide receivers, but they mostly get the ball thrown to them. While safeties and cornerbacks have to stop the offense from scoring touchdowns, and they have to run a lot while doing that. The offensive and defensive line need conditioning because they have to hit somebody every single play.
The next thing I am going to talk about is weight training. Weight training is important because you need to have strength in football. You need it because you have to tackle people and break tackles. Football is a lot about being stronger than the person across from you so that you can dominate them. When you get stronger, then it will be easier for you to tackle people, break tackles, block people, or even shedding blocks to go make the tackle. A way that you can get stronger is lifting weights. Some positions that you need to have strength for are running backs, offensive lineman, defensive lineman, and linebackers. Running backs need strength so that they can break tackles. Offensive lineman need strength because they have to block somebody every play. Defensive lineman need strength because they have to try to get past the offensive lineman in order to make the tackle. Linebackers need strength, so that if somebody tries to go out and block them they can get past them and go make tackles.
The next thing I’m going to talk about is mental toughness. Mental toughness is important because if something doesn’t go your way, you have to overcome it so that you can keep going. A way you can get better mental toughness is you having a goal for yourself. If you make a goal for yourself, then you will work towards that goal so that you will succeed. Another way to get better mental toughness, is positive self-talk. If you have positive self-talk, then you will feel good about yourself then you’re also going to forget about the bad things. I think that all the positions would need mental toughness because every position in football will make a mistake, so if you have mental toughness then you will basically forget about the mistake and move on from it.
The last thing I am going to talk about is being a good teammate. Being a good teammate is important because if you encourage your teammates, so they will feel good about themselves and then they could do better. Being encouraging to your teammates will also make them have positive self-talk. Another way of being a good teammate is supporting teammates. A way of supporting your teammate is if your teammate isn’t doing the best, then you can support them by telling them they can do it and don’t worry about their mistakes. This way of being a good teammate could also be every position because you can support your teammate in any position.
