Have you ever been at a golf course and thought “Wow this place is great!” Or you thought “Wow this place sucks.” Well, I am going to do a review of the Emporia Municipal Golf Course. I am reviewing how clean the place is, how well they care for their grass and greens, and how challenging the course is.

Cleanliness

Most golf courses have something in common, they are almost spotless! Sure every once in a while you will see a piece of trash on the ground, but, besides that, they are clean. Out South is no exception because I have played the course tens of times and I have only seen 15 pieces of trash on the ground “excluding broken tees”. You might think “That’s a lie!” or “NUH UH”, but I am serious. One of the reasons why I don’t see a lot of trash is because they have trash cans at every tee box! Doing that keeps the place in order and helps it stay clean.

Greens & Fairways

If you have ever watched professional golf, you will notice that the course is very green and the sand is super white! While this place doesn’t have the cleanest sand. But the grass is in pristine condition. This grass is cut weekly and the greens get treated almost every five days! One thing that happened recently at the golf course was new tee boxes! Because they are way better than they were before and they made them more beginner-friendly. In conclusion, they keep their grass clean.

How Challenging The Course Is

Most golf courses will have a rating on how difficult the course is. This golf course has an average handicap of 20, which is good for this golf course. But I think this course is very beginner-friendly because they have different levels of tee boxes. At this golf course, they base the difficulty on colors. Those colors are blue, white, gold, red, orange, and green. Blue is the hardest one. It is the farthest back and green is the easiest because it starts over halfway through the hole. In the middle school, golfers hit from the red tees. The red tees are the closest to the hole with an original tee box.

In conclusion, the Emporia Municipal Golf Course is one of the best public golf courses you can go to in Kansas in my opinion. It is very clean, they take care of their greens and fairways, and it is very beginner-friendly while also being able to be difficult at the same time. If you ever want to play golf at a great course, then this is the one for you!
