Recently there have been quite a few track meets. On the 23 of April, I had my first 4×4 relay. I had only done one other relay before and that was earlier that day. I had also only done the 400m once before that day, but I processed. The 4×4 was the last event and I was nervous all day. By mid-day I had found out that we couldn’t compete in the 4×4 because of injuries. I was excited because I really didn’t want to run, but I still felt bad for my friends. It was the final call for the 4×4 and I had just eaten when I found out that we found a replacement. We got signed in and didn’t have time to warm up. Before the race, I kept apologizing to my teammates because I knew that I couldn’t run as fast as I normally would because I had just eaten. I was the fourth and final member to run and by the time I was passed the baton, we were almost 200m behind everyone else. We were so far behind because none of us were prepared for this race and didn’t think we were going to be in it. I knew when I got the baton that no matter what I did we were going to come in last place so I jogged the lap. When we finished we were almost 36 seconds behind the second to last team. But even though we weren’t prepared, most of us had never ran a 4×4, and we had to sub someone in, we still tried our best and did as well as we could have done.
