My experience in World Studies was a great one. This class has become one of my favorites not only this year but out of my whole school career. Everyone in my class has been extremely nice to me and when we got a new student everyone was very welcoming to him as well. I have learned so many things in this class, not only the school work but life skills too. One of the first things that I learned in this class is failure. I have learned through many assignments, and Mr. Hawly saying it every two weeks, that everyone will fail, but that is ok as long as you try your best to fix it and do better next time. I have failed many times just like he said but I have always tried to fix my mistakes and that is one of the reasons that I have grown as a person as much as I have. I also learned that time management is everything. If you aren’t able to manage your time then it will be really rough to get caught back up in anything that you do. In world studies we are treated more as adults than in other classes, this means that we get an assignment and then we get the next one and the next and there never is a break. If you get behind you will stay behind because of the endless assignments. You might think this is a bad thing, and it can be at times, but this has prepared me for the real world and what it will be like in a job. They are not going to stop and give you more time at a job if you don’t get your work done they are going to fire you. Learning this fact and how to help with staying on top of things has really helped me and will allow me to be successful later in life. The last thing that I will talk about is actual school stuff like The Dust Bowl. The Dust Bowl has always been something that has interested me. I knew the basics of the Dust Bowl but I never knew just how many struggles were happening at that time. In world studies I was able to learn about the struggles of the Dust Bowl but I have been able to learn about struggles from all over the world allowing me to connect with the people of that region. I have also been able to read multiple books about the people in the country or continent that we are talking about that are historical fiction and could have happened to someone, this again allows me to connect to people from all over the world. World Studies has been a great class with many amazing people I am able to call friends due to World Studies and many interesting and fun topics to learn about. If you ever are in 7th grade and find yourself in World Studies Know that you will have an amazing year to look forward to.
