Have you ever looked at a friend and wondered what has happened to them, what they have been through, and what’s their story? Well, today that’s what we’ll be doing. I have interviewed Cristal Montes, and her story is amazing. Her past, her plans for the future, fears, and much more. This has been an exciting deep dive into her life, so stick around to read it all.
Q: Who is someone who has significantly impacted your life? What did they teach you?
A: I honestly think my best friend, Camila.
Q: What did they teach you?
A: She helped me learn more about myself and to believe in myself. And to go and follow my dreams.
Q: How did she do that?
A: I don’t know, I’ve known her since preschool and so I’ve been close to her. So she helped me find that being close.
Q: Why have you been doing Folklorico for so long?
A: It’s been in my family for generations, and my older sister has been doing it for 13 years. And by that, I looked up to her by doing it.
Q: What is your favorite part about it?
A: We get to perform it out of town sometimes.
Q: Have you ever had a scary experience?
A: In soccer, I’ve gotten a little scared to play sometimes. When I play I don’t think I can do it, but my friend Camilla helps me feel better.
Q: What is your favorite class and why?
A: Social Studies is not as hard as other classes where you have to do work every day.
Q: What is the hardest challenge you have ever faced in school?
A: When I get a bad grade I have to get it up by doing extra credit.
Q: Have you ever been in a life-or-death situation?
A: When my grandpa was driving his truck, there was a train coming and it was close, and he just drove fast in front of it.
Q: What is your favorite food and why?
A: I like tamales because you can put chili cheese on most things and meat. And it’s always good.
Q: What has been your favorite folklorico experience
A: When we performed at ESU they were asking questions about it, what we would do for it, and the time we had. It was a nice experience for people to see us perform.
