I woke up to the smell of eggs and toast and my mouth was watering! I was very very hungry. I get dressed in a t-shirt and some jeans and then go to the breakfast table where I eat with my siblings. When I am done I go to the restroom to brush my teeth. Then I go to my younger sister to ask her to play when, all of a sudden my mom calls out to me to come to her room. I go there and I see a beautiful pink and periwinkle dress. I ask my mom what it is for and she says, “It’s for you silly!”. All of the sudden I remember what day it was. I was 8 and I was getting baptized into the church of Jesus Christ Of Latter Days Saints! I say thank you a million times to my mom for making me the dress. I ask my dad a bunch of questions because I am excited like, “When are we going?”, “ Will the water be cold?”, “How does it feel?”. My dad tells me to calm down but I feel too excited! He tells me to read the Friend Magazine and I go and plop down on the couch to read. I get really into the story and then my dad tells me it is time to leave. I get up, my mom does my hair, and we get into the car.
When we get to the church I am feeling really nervous because I have never been baptized before. All the people I invited to come were there and it was pretty scary. I ask my dad “What if I mess up?” and he says “You won’t because the spirit will be with you”. After he said that, I felt a whole lot better. My mom helps me get into my white jumpsuit and I walk into the baptismal font. When I feel the warm air from the water and smell the chlorine, I suddenly feel really warm inside like Jesus was right there with me. I get into the water and my dad says the baptismal words and then he dunks me into the water where no part of my body is sticking out of the water; not even one strand of hair was out of the water. When I get out, my mom helps me get into my dress and redid my hair. When my mom gets done, I go into the relief society room where I receive the holy ghost. After that, my dad gives a talk about baptism to everyone who is there. After he was done we all sang a song called baptism and I felt the overwhelming joy fill my body. I then got an unexpected gift from Sister Hendriksen. It was homemade jello that looked like flowers! After that, my grandma gave me a box that she had when she got baptized, and when everyone wrote their cards for me they all put it in the box. When I got home I read them all and I cried because of how much everyone loved me so much, especially my heavenly father.
Every time I think about the memory of my baptism it makes me have the same feeling I had when I got baptized; overwhelming joy! And it reminds me that no matter what happens in life I am loved. What I hope you have learned from this story is that, You Are A Beloved Child Of GOD And He LOVES You!
I would like to invite you to come to our church and learn about the gospel! You also can find out more at https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org › ….
