Have you ever been in a baseball game? Have you ever been in a big baseball tournament? One where you are projected to do ok but you know that your team could be greater than projected? This all happened to me this summer. Here is my story about that weekend.

The day started out by driving to Kansas City to play in a baseball tournament. We already knew we had two games to play that Saturday. Depending on how we did would determine how we were placed in bracket play on Sunday. I was so excited to bat and to play first base, because I don’t think I would be pitching on Saturday. It was Saturday, June 1, 2024, In the first game we had to play the Ironmen. It did not go well. we lost 4-12. The next game we played against the Bruisers. We got 13 hits which is a lot and beat the Bruisers 18-3.

The next day we had to drive back up to Kansas City to play more baseball. I assumed that I was going to pitch the first game so I was feeling mixed emotions. First, I was feeling excited to pitch. Then I felt worried because we played the Ironmen, the same team we lost to yesterday. But I was ready for baseball.

In the first inning, I started pitching. I was excited to pitch but then there were also nerves setting in. The first two batters came up to the plate and then back to the bench; I struck them both out. The third batter I hit with the pitch, so he got on base. Then the fourth batter comes up to the plate. He was supposed to be the power hitter. I struck him out, and found I was starting to get into the flow. We got some runs up on the board. That always helps me when we get runs up. They only got one hit off me. I was in a good groove and pitched the whole game. We won 15-1, to advance to the championship game.

This was one of the best games that I have ever played in. I made it through all of my nerves and second-guessing myself to be able to pitch a great game. I can’t wait for next season to start to hopefully do this again. We ended up getting second place.
