Have you ever forgotten a whole day? This happened to me once. It made me rethink lots of things in my life. And it taught me to be careful and cherish the little things.
It’s an average day of school. I walk through the halls thinking about what’s for lunch. As I get back to class, I see we’ve moved on from what we were doing so I rush to sit down to make sure I didn’t miss anything. Thankfully I didn’t. As we finish up the class, we pack up and get ready for recess.
We were running around and having fun at recess, but then the whistle blew and I ran to get in line to make sure I wasn’t late. But then everything went black. Later I realized that I tripped and hit my head against a railing. When I woke up in the nurse’s office and they were asking me some of the dumbest questions I’ve ever heard like “Whatis something that is red”? Also, I felt like someone was banging my head with a two-by-four. That’s when one of the nurses told me that I had a concussion.
In the days following, I began to notice that lights and loud sounds hurt. I went down to my grandparents’, it felt like someone was shoving glass into my ears. Mostly because they scream into my ears to talk, because they’re old and have hearing aids so they think they need to talk louder.
And ever since that day, I’ve been a lot more careful and aware of my surroundings. Also, I take my time. So stay safe because not everything is a race. So cherish the little things in your life, and if you ever get a concussion stay home because I promise you that you will feel so much better because loud sounds and bright lights will hurt a lot!
