Have you ever made a list of things you like, but couldn’t choose what the top 5 were? Well, that’s happened to me. You should read all of my top 5, but #1 is my personal favorite. Today I will be telling you about my top 5 favorite Bible verses.
#5. When Jesus heals 10 Lepers (people who have a skin disease).
The story is when Jesus went into a village on the border between Galilee and Samaria and 10 Lepers were at a distance from him and they asked to be healed and Jesus didn’t heal them right away. Instead he told them to go into town and ask the priests to heal them, but on their way there they were healed. Only 1 of the lepers that were healed came to Jesus and gave thanks. This is on my list because the story is all about how Jesus shows compassion and healed them and that’s the role model that I want to look up to.
#4. Jesus washed the disciples’ feet.
This story is when Jesus was washing the disciples’ feet and he did it to show humility and to be humble and for them to follow in his footsteps. It also tells us how humble, kind, and loving Jesus’ character is. This is on my list because it makes me think about what would happen if I was more humble.
#3. The Good Samaritan.
This story is when Jesus was giving a parable about a Samaritan that helped a Jew who was ambushed. Now Jews and Samaritans don’t want anything to do with each other. But this Samaritan decided to help him because no one else would help him. This is on my list because it makes me happy to think that people who don’t like each other, can still help each other. Just because you might not get along with someone you could still be kind to them.
#2. Lazarus.
This story is when Jesus raised Lazarus, his friend, from the dead. Now Jesus did raise him, but before he did, Mary and Martha were begging him to come and raise him from the dead. He did come, but even though Jesus knew he was going to raise Lazarus from the dead he still was sad and wept. This is on my list because it shows just how vast God’s love is and how much he cares about each and every one of us.
#1. Raised.
This story is the most emotional story, and the best story; in my opinion. The day that was the saddest of them all was near and Jesus was so nervous that he began to sweat blood. Jesus hung there on the cross bearing the sins of the world, so that when people give themselves to him that they will be forgiven and will enter into Heaven. The other part of the story is when Jesus was raised from the dead, he didn’t stay dead. This is on my list because this story is just so emotional that whenever I think about it, it makes me cry and feel warm inside. But also because it is still used today by people giving their life to Christ.
So, those were all of my favorite stories. The Bible has a wide variety of stories, and it is a living breathing book. Not like it has lungs or can breathe air, but I mean it can teach us about our past, present, and/or future. I know that there are a lot of stories still in the Bible so, if you want to read more stories in the Bible then you can buy a Bible or get a Bible app.
