“My goal is to do everything that people said I can’t do and wouldn’t do.” – Ja Morant “I’m always going to be happy and play like myself.” – Anthony Edwards. Those 2 people are who I am going to be comparing…well, their shoes. Each of these athletes has their signature basketball shoe, Anthony Edward 1s (AE 1s), and Ja 1s. I am going to see which one is best.
The first category is grip. Both of these shoes are great but there is a clear winner. When trying the Ja 1s the grip was great. But after a week of usage, it started to dwindle. On dust, these shoes are very slippery and don’t grip much. The AE 1s are a different story. They don’t squeak like the JA 1s but the grip is way better. It grabs the court on dust way nicer than the Ja’s. So, for this category, the AE 1s win.
The second category is comfortability. First are the Ja’s, and there is one thing that I have to say about them: PAIN. These shoes hurt my feet so bad I had to wear band-aids so I wouldn’t get blisters. They are not very comfortable shoes, the breathability is pretty good though. But the AE 1s are completely different, they are some of the most comfortable basketball shoes I have ever worn. The only downside is the breathability is not that good. But, the pros outweigh the cons and AE 1s win this category.
The third and final category is looks. The way your shoes look on the court is very important. Starting off with the Ja’s, they are pretty basic but have some pretty cool colorways. The Ja’s look like tennis shoes on the court but with better colors. The AE 1s definitely have a more unique design with a honeycomb side and a canvas top. The colors are definitely a statement with a few reflective colorways. So for this, AE 1s once again take the cake.
Now time for the reveal, drum roll, please… AE 1s WIN. Taking all three categories AE 1s come up victorious. I do recommend these shoes. You can find them for 120$, and sometimes on sale for 80$-100$. Basketball shoes are a subject where opinions vary a lot, this review might not agree with you, which is ok.
