Spoiler Alert: ***do not read if you have not finished series***
What is your favorite battle scene? People with magic? Fights in Castles? Swords and shields? Students fighting other students? Well, Harry Potter and the final battle in book seven has every single one of those and more.
Harry Potter is “The Boy Who Lived”, meaning that Voldemort had tried to kill Harry with a deadly curse, but for a reason Voldemort did not understand the curse didn’t work. Harry was saved from Voldemort’s curse by the loving act of his mother sacrificing herself to save Harry, so when Voldemort tried to kill baby Harry it bounced off him and hit Voldemort. All that was left on Harry was a lightning mark on his forehead. Voldemort was mad that the most powerful wizard of all time got bested by a baby, so he made it his mission to kill Harry Potter.
Harry Potter was searching for the Horcruxes when Voldemort heard that his enemy was in Hogwarts looking for the only thing that could kill Voldemort. He gathered every death eater and had them all gather around Hogwarts and get ready to attack. Hogwarts was more prepared than Voldemort had expected, Harry had helped create “Dumbledore’s Army” which is a group of students that came together to fight against Voldemort and his minions. Voldemort led his army into Hogwarts by the shrieking shack, while Harry helped the teachers and students prepare for the fight.
The Battle finally ended with Dumbledore’s Army and the Order of the Phoenix (A group created by Dumbledore to fight against evil) winning. Hogwarts won in part thanks to Harry, Ron, and Hermione finding and killing all seven of the horcruxes. But it was also because Dumbledore’s army had been taught how to protect themselves and others. Voldemort sent a green killing spell that met Harry’s disarming spell, and Voldemort’s wand wrenched itself from Voldemort’s hand. Harry caught the wand as Voldemort fell. Voldemort hit the ground, his body small and crumbled. Voldemort was dead by his own rebounding curse.
Well, now you know about a fight with swords, shields, students, magic, snakes, castles. If you haven’t read the Harry Potter books, stop waiting, and let this be the motivation to get you started. But don’t you dare start with the last book just so you can read this scene.
