On March 4th, 2025, the Oklahoma Thunder faced off against the Portland Trailblazers.
Only one can win: Thunder vs. Trail Blazers. The day was windy but sunny, with just a few clouds across the sky. The humidity clung to us as my dad and I arrived in Oklahoma City, and we were astounded by the tall buildings towering over our heads. The streets buzzed with the sounds of honking horns and excited chatter, and every parking spot was filled. As we stepped into our hotel, my jaw dropped. The lobby’s domed ceiling, decked with a stunning glass roof, illuminated the space, while every room featured its own balcony. We were lucky enough to be on the 14th floor, just two floors from the top. After unpacking and getting ready, we set out on an urban adventure. We picked up some electric scooters and zipped through the vibrant streets, my dad’s laughter ringing out as he tried to catch up to me. A few hours later, it was game time!
Walking into the arena, I was overwhelmed by the energy and the sheer skill of each player. Every single movement was calculated. The game began with the Thunder taking an early lead, but the Trail Blazers were quick to come back. It was still a tight game by halftime, with the Thunder just ahead. As the fourth quarter approached, the intensity ramped up, and with just 2 minutes left, the Thunder pulled ahead with a commanding lead. When the final buzzer rang, a wave of happiness washed over me, and my dad and I cheered as the Thunder came out on top! But the night was not over.
After we returned to the hotel, we threw on some layers and headed to play mini-golf. It was an amazing way to save the night, and I couldn’t wait to test my skills on the mini-golf course. After 40 minutes filled with “high action” gameplay, I emerged victorious! We returned to the hotel, washed up, got into our PJs, and lied down in bed. As I drifted off to sleep, I couldn’t help but smile. It had been an amazing day, one that I would cherish forever, filled with the thrill of sports, laughter with my dad, and memories that would last a lifetime.
This trip was such an amazing one I was so lucky to be able to go. If you are able to go to one of these games, I would highly recommend it. It is an experience filled with memories and fun times. No matter what you’re doing, try and spend time with your family, because you’ll get to keep that memory forever.
