Cosplaying (A fun hobby where you dress up as a character from a game, a show, an idea, and/or movie) is really popular in the Anime Community. A lot of people love cosplaying!! But finding the things to cosplay is really hard. So I’m going to tell you what things you might need for cosplaying, and the items if you want to make the cosplay yourself. But buying these things could be really expensive, so if you want to cosplay then maybe save up your money!
Place to find costumes:
Costumes can be found almost everywhere! Places to find them would be Spirit Halloween, Walmart, Good Will, and any other places that sell costumes. Online places to check out would be Amazon and Temu. Some cosplayers find items that just match the person they’re cosplaying. Finding clothes items that match would be probably Hot Topic, Target, and Hobby Lobby has hats, aprons, etc. A lot of cosplayers also use items in their own closet! So using items you own could be really good if you don’t want to spend money. Wigs are a big part of cosplay if you want to go all out!! Adra Wigs is a really good place to find wigs. Youtube and Tiktok could help with tutorials for styling wigs. Hair spray and a crimper are used for styling wigs. Wigs also come in different sizes so measure your head to see how big you need the wig cause if you don’t, you will get headaches.
Items needed to make cosplay:
If you want to make your own clothes for cosplay make sure you know how to sew!! Cardboard, fabric, foam, felt, wire, paper (for the outfit template), resin, and maybe some type of electronic for a photo of the outfit you’re trying to cosplay. For the sewing part you need thread, a sewing machine, sewing needles, and pins. Having paint, fabric paint, scissors, paint brushes, a pencil, and box cutters could be really helpful for main coloring and cutting. Check out Instructables for ideas of making your cosplay!
How to make accessories:
Making the characters accessories can be easy but it depends on how many accessories this character has. Cardboard, paint, resin, foam, any type of jewelry could help with making the accessories. It also depends on if you want to make the character in your style. So adding your own jewelry, any hair charms, anything can be used as accessories for your character! Face accessories can be really good, for example a character with glasses, if you don’t have glasses make them out of resin or maybe foam!
