Do you have a teacher that can do magic, has a beard, and is one of the best wizards ever? Sadly, me neither. But you probably have had a teacher that is kind, strong, and helpful. Well, Dumbledore is all those and more. Today I’ll tell you about who Dumbledore is, why he became a teacher, and why he’s the best teacher ever.

Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore, or more commonly known as Albus Dumbledore, is the headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Dumbledore is an English half-blood wizard, who has blue eyes, silver hair and the longest beard in the wizarding world. Dumbledore had two siblings: a younger brother named Aberforth and a younger sister named Ariana. Ariana died because of a magical accident, and his brother Aberforth ran the Hog’s Head. Dumbledore’s father died in Azkaban, and his mother died when Ariana had a magical accident.

Albus Dumbledore became a teacher. At first he was teaching Transfiguration, and then later he taught Defense Against the Dark Arts, mostly because he desired to shape the future of the wizarding world through education. Dumbledore, throughout his education, was always a great student. According to Harry Potter WIKI, “At some point over the course of his school career, Albus even won the Barnabus Finkley Prize for Exceptional Spell-Casting, became the British Youth Representative to the Wizengamot, and received the Gold Medal for Ground-Breaking Contribution to the International Alchemical Conference in Cairo, and is considered by some to have been the most brilliant student to have ever attended the school”.

Dumbledore is the best teacher because he was a student at the same school, so he knew how he would have wanted to be taught. He also knew that students are rebellious, so Dumbledore never got mad by someone being curious or experimental. Dumbledore himself often got in trouble. According to Harry Potter WIKI, “During Albus’ fourth year, he accidentally set the bed-curtains in his dormitory on fire”.
