Have you ever played for a Rec team or on a team? If not, you will get to hear about the behind-the-scenes and practices that Team Coyote has and what it would be like if you were on the team.
Team Coyote is A local emporia team that has local trails and supports riders from middle to high school. Team Coyote began in 2021, in Emporia Kansas as a founding team of the Kansas Chapter of NICA.
When you go to a NICA race, 7th grade starts in the first wave, and you need to get there the day before to pre-ride before you race the next day. When you start the race, your blood is pumping and you are ready to go. That part is really fun. But they do have crashes in the beginning, so you have to watch out, especially if you are in the back.
The races are usually around the 10-mile mark. A perfect example is Wilson Lake because it’s about 8 miles. So they are pretty fun because they are around the right time, so they’re not too short or too long.
I think with all that the races are fun and worth your time, especially watching the high school because they can be really entertaining.
With races, there will always be practices. The practices are sometimes at the Coyote trails or around the ESU campus. You learn some drills at the beginning of the season, and after that, you do more practice with actual riding and actual scenarios on the trail and long-distance riding instead of drills.
With all of that granted, I feel like the Coyote team is fun and will always be worth my time. If you just keep on trying and learning drills and riding on the trail, in the end, you get to go to fun races for the weekend!
