Have you ever wondered what kind of weapons police officers use that aren’t lethal? This story is about less lethal weapons that police officers use and what they are used for. The weapons are batons, pepper spray, tasers, rubber bullets, and beanbag rounds.
The first weapon is the baton. It’s used as a defensive tool, window breaker, crowd controller, and for “subduing aggressive Individuals”. Police officers carry a baton on their duty belt. Some of the situations may need more than just a baton. For example, if the criminal is being extremely aggressive, then they may need to use the baton and the taser. A baton kind of expands and it is used kinda like a bat for baseball but instead of it being big and thick it’s small and kind of thin.
Next on the list is pepper spray. Police officers use pepper spray if someone is being violent. They will use it instead of the taser, but if the pepper spray doesn’t work, they will use the taser. Police officers also carry pepper spray on their duty belt for protection. Pepper spray is probably the least lethal weapon out of the five least lethal weapons.
Next on the list is the tasers. It’s used for if people try to resist being arrested and they start to get aggressive against the police officer arresting them. Tasers can cause minor discomfort and could lead to life-threatening complications. It can cause puncture wounds, cuts, bruises, and kidney damage. So, if you don’t want to be tased, you just have to cooperate.
Next is rubber bullets. It can be used for crowd control, specifically for protests and riots. Some of the side effects of rubber bullets are: it can penetrate your skin, break bones, fracture your skull, and it could explode your eye. So, I would recommend not using rubber bullets unless you’re shooting at a target.
Last is bean bag rounds. They are used for crowd control, and self-mutilating or suicidal individuals. They can cause fractures, soft tissue damage, Penetrating Injuries, and Internal Bleeding. You should not play around with bean bag rounds unless you’re shooting at a target.
All of these weapons aren’t as lethal as others. Police officers carry half of these on their duty belt. In conclusion, you shouldn’t play with any of these weapons because if you accidentally pull the trigger you might hit someone and it won’t go well.
