What would you do if someone called you a rumble pony? Because there is a minor league baseball team called the Binghamton Rumble Ponies. Have you ever wanted to know the best names in the minor league? Today I will tell you about my favorite team names in the minor league.
- El Paso Chihuahuas
They were established in 2014. They are a triple-A team for the San Diego Padres. They have been to the playoffs 4 times, won once in 2016, and won the division 3 times in 2016, 2017, and 2018. Matthew Batten is their best player on their team and plays on the infield. The reason it made the list is because their name is Chihuahuas, and it is a dog name that is small, so it is cool how they are a little dog team.
- Amarillo Sod Poodles
They have been around since 2019. They are a double-A team for the Arizona Diamondbacks. They have been to the playoffs twice in 2019 and 2023. Tommy Troy is the best player on the team and plays shortstop, and has 24 hits this season. It made the list because I thought their name is weird and I had no idea what a sod poodle was, so I had to search it up.
- Hartford Yard Goats
They have been around since 2016. They are a double-A team for the Colorado Rockies. They have been to the playoffs once, and it was last year in 2024. Benny Montgomery is the best player on the yard goats. He plays in the outfield and has hit 3 home runs this year. The reason they made the list is because I have never heard of a yard goat and their logo is really weird and cool.
- Binghamton Rumble Ponies
They have been around since 1992. They are a double-A team for the New York Mets. They have been to the playoffs 5 times in 1994, 2000, 2014, 2017, and in 2023. Their best player is Jett Williams on the Rumble Ponies. He plays shortstop and has 19 hits. The reason they made the list is because their name is funny and it would be funny to say to someone the rumble ponies played good and they could be like “What do you mean?”.
