Making cosplays can be hard. And the hardest part isn’t finding the items, printing to patterns, but making the cosplay itself! So I’m going to tell you the steps on how to make a long coat. This long coat can be used for multiple different cosplays. For example, a Circus Ringmaster, the Joker, and/or Count Dracula. It only takes 5 simple steps!! So, I hope this helps for making cosplays with coats!!

Step 1: Everything You Will Need

You are first gonna need a suit or a tux. The pants don’t have to fit but the jacket does need to fit you. Make sure when buying the outfit that the color is the same because, if the pants and jacket aren’t the same color it will look a little weird. You will need scissors and sewing supplies.

Step 2: Cut Out Pants Legs

First, lay out the pants on a flat surface, and also make sure the pants are flat and even. Grab your scissors and cut off the pant legs. Make sure to cut straight when cutting. Then find the seam of both legs and cut it till you get to the end. 

Step 3: Sewing And Hemming The Clothes

Now that the seams are cut, we will now attach them to the jacket. Hem the edges of the legs so it’s clean and straight. Open up the jacket and lay it out on a flat surface. Take the two pant legs and place them both on the opened jacket. The legs should meet in the middle. Take sewing pins and pin the legs in place, and sew the jacket and legs together.

Step 4: The Lengths Of The Coat

Now, once that is done, the back of the jacket has a gap in it so just sew that together. The length of the coat depends on what cosplay you’re doing. For a ring master, the back of the coat should be longer. 

Step 5: What costumes could you use a long coat for?

Many cosplays can be used with the coat you just made. A steampunk, a vampire, the Joker, a ringmaster, and many more! You could also use it for your own cosplays!! So just have fun picking what to use it for.
