Tips for Passing A Soccer Ball

Jenna Brown, Beat Reporter

Do you like to play soccer? Or do you want to know how to pass a soccer ball? If you don’t know anything about passing a soccer ball then this is a good place to start. Even if you don’t like soccer you should still try these tips.

  1. Plant your foot: when you are passing a ball, your planted foot should be a foot away from the ball. You should have your foot a foot away from the ball because it is more comfortable for you passing the ball. It also helps you have a lot of space to flow through for the pass. You should also have your foot facing the person you want to pass the ball to. Image titled Bend a Soccer Ball Step 2
  2. Using the inside of your foot: when you’re passing the ball you always want to have the inside of your foot striking (kicking) the ball. This is because if you kick the ball with your toe it won’t be as accurate.  When you do this make sure your other foot is still planted. Image result for using the inside of of your foot to pass a soccer ball
  3. Leg position: when passing the ball depending on how much power you want is how far you bring your leg back. If you don’t want very much power in your pass, don’t bring your leg very far back. If you want to kick the ball far than bring your leg back farther.Image result for leg positions for passing a soccer ball
  4. Body position: when passing the ball you need to slightly lean forward so that the ball will stay on the ground. If you lean back then the ball will come off the ground and the other team could steal it. Also if your hips are not facing the person you are passing to then your foot could move and when you pass the ball it could not go to the person you are passing it to. You need to follow through in the steps or else the ball would go to the wrong place.
