Braxton Higgins Interview!
You might have heard at one of the Pep Assemblies this year, that Braxton Higgins, a 7th grader at EMS is going to Bulgaria for gymnastics. He competes competitively in gymnastics, and I got the chance to interview him. Here are his answers to my questions!
Competitions:
Question: I heard you recently went to Bulgaria. Can you tell me about your trip and the competition? (Ex: what places did you get in the events?)
Answer: When we were there the first days, we trained. Competition day I was nervous, and after the first competition, the next competitions I wasn’t like that nervous. On double mini, I got 6th, and individual trampoline I got 27, and synchronized trampoline I got 9.
Question: I heard you recently went to Texas also. Can you tell me about your trip, and competition and scores?
Answer: While I was there we had one warm-up day, and the competition wasn’t that bad. I had a new routine and everything. I got in first and went to finals. I fell off the trampoline in finals and got 2nd and won $75.
Goals:
Question: What is your goal for the future with gymnastics?
Answer: My goal is to go to the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
Favorites/Bests:
Question: Which event are you best in?
Answer: Trampoline
Question: What is your favorite event to compete in? Why?
Answer: Trampoline because whenever you do flips and don’t think about anything and it’s fun.
Question: What is your favorite part of doing gymnastics competitively? Why?
Answer: I like traveling across the world, and I get to see different countries, and my friends from different states and stuff.
Bonus Information:
Question: How long have you been doing gymnastics and why did you start?
Answer: I been doing it since I was three, and I do it because, it gets things off my mind, and out of my head.
Question: Which gym do you do gymnastics for?
Answer: Skywalkers
Question: What or who inspires you to do gymnastics? Why?
Answer: When I first started gymnastics, Chris Brooks was a guy who kept me going forward and forward.
