Have you ever imagined playing in a huge green yard, being a professional baseball player with bright lights shining on you, while everyone is screaming your name to make the right choice! In this story, I’m going to tell you the biggest changes in major league baseball and also some interesting facts.

#3: Bases

Baseball has started in the summer of 1839, in Cooperstown, New York by Abner Doubleday. Bases were one of the most important things about baseball. It helps the players and scorers to see if they are out or safe during plays. The bases were mentioned of the dimensions in 1857 playing rules. “Third and first bases moved seven and one half inches, toward second base, so that they were entirely in fairground. Also the 30 yard mark fell upon the back rear corner first and third base. So no only were the bases in fair ground they were now also inside the 30 yard box on the diamond. The runner’s line, outside of the first base Foul Ball Line now extended 3 feet past first base”(http://www.19cbaseball.com/field-9.html).

#2: Pitching

Pitching the ball is fun to do. It is like tossing the ball, but instead of getting the ball thrown back to you, it is hit with a bat and other players start coming together to get the player out. While pitching the ball, it couldn’t be thrown over-handed until the 1884. After 1884, pitchers can pitch varieties of throws such as windup, early cocking, late cocking, early acceleration, late acceleration, deceleration, and follow-through. Variations while gripping the baseball cause the seams of the stitches to fly in  the air differently, thereby changing the angle of the ball, makes it harder for the batter to hit.

#1: Batting

By the 1860s there were many different types of baseball bats. They started with wood than later on in the baseball seasons the baseball bats was made out of metal. When baseball was starting as a sport all of the players made their own bats. This basically didn’t change that much except for the changes of the bats.

These are the top 3 biggest changes in baseball history. Baseball is a fun sport, so I recommend you to try this sport out in the summer. Also, did you know that “The first pro baseball game ever to be aired on television was on August 26, 1939.
