All From Nothing is a band from Emporia. In 2018 they released their first album “Eyes To The Stars”. This album is filled with songs that are influenced by a few different genres like different forms of rock and punk. This band with four members is working hard on practicing and producing their music.

About The Group and Album

Eyes to the Stars” is an album with very entertaining songs. “Eyes to the Stars” has clean lyrics throughout the entirety of album, therefore, making it family friendly and good to listen to in a group. The band consists of four members: Jeff Kitselman a vocalist and the leader of the group, Josh Pavlik is the bass player, Gabriel Molina Maruda the guitarist and another vocalist, and Sage Thurston who is the drummer and also the vocalist.

Pros of the Album

Eyes to the Stars” consists of 6 songs. In this album, I find it interesting how the opportunity to sing isn’t only restricted to one person. In fact, the majority of the band is listed as a vocalist as well as the instrument they play. The songs “Blame Game” and “Down On Me” are two songs that really stood out to me because both songs are very energetic and upbeat making listeners want to tap a toe or nod your head to the beat, making these songs really enjoyable listen to. The guitar and bass are well played in the songs and probably one of the most addicting parts of each song. The bass and guitar really brings out the lyrics and give the drums a voice. The lyrics are well written and can easily be sung along with. Each song is very upbeat no matter the lyrics. Overall, the album itself is very gratifying.

Cons of The Album

Though this album has good content, there are places where this album falls short. For example, the album itself is fairly short. Even though it’s more efficient to write an album with only a few songs that are well written, musically and lyrically, instead of an album with 10-12 songs where not all songs are well written; All From Nothing wasn’t entirely successful in meeting some of the standards that may be expected from a short album. Though the majority of the songs are great to listen to, according to one student of EMS, the songs “Party Song” and “Space” “[were] very repetitive and it just seemed very layered.”

Conclusion

Although the information about this band wasn’t easy to find, it was interesting to do research and learn about this local band. Each person was able to contribute to making the band who it is today. All From Nothing has the potential to be quite successful because All From Nothing has their eyes to the stars.
