Always try to avoid peer pressure when people try and get you to smoke.

Smoking cigarettes should be banned. I think that smoking cigarettes should be banned because not only can it hurt the person smoking but also the people around them. Smoking leads to lung cancer and other bad diseases. One of the worst parts is that you can get addicted and the addiction can be difficult to get rid of.

My first reason why smoking should be banned, is that smoking cigarettes can lead to death. According to the CDC, “If the pattern of smoking all over the globe doesn’t change, more than 8 million people a year will die from diseases related to tobacco use by 2030.” This means that if the smoking rate doesn’t go down it will lead to more deaths.

Another reason why smoking needs to be banned, is that it can cause harm to others around the smoker. America Lung Association said, “Secondhand smoke contains hundreds of chemicals known to be toxic or carcinogenic, including formaldehyde, benzene, vinyl chloride, arsenic ammonia, and hydrogen cyanide.” This means that everyone around the smoker will be harmed not only the smoker.

My last reason why smoking should be banned, is that it can affect your sense of smell. According to Raleigh’s Capital, “Smell is also impacted by ‘common chemical sense.’ This means thousands of nerve endings in the nose, mouth, and throat can help detect irritating substances such as an onion.” If you smoke cigarettes, not only will your smelling be affected but also your taste. This can cause people to eat too much, not enough, or cause them to use too much salt on food. Even when you quit smoking your smell might not return for a few years.

Smoking cigarettes can lead to death, second-hand and third-hand smoking can harm smokers and others, and also affect your sense of smell. Smoking needs to be banned because it leads to nothing good in the end. If you know someone smoking try and help them quit. It will be beneficial to everyone, especially the person smoking. Here is a cite you can use if you want to get help quitting or help someone quit smoking. LINK
