Basketball
September 19, 2017
Have you ever wanted to play basketball and know how to play it? Well, you can because I’m going to tell you the positions , skills such as dribbling, drills, layups, shooting, etc. Also if basketball is your passion then where it can take you to High School, College, and then eventually Pro.
Now the first basic things that you need to know is the positions you can play with a team. You can obviously play A LOT of positions but the main 3 ones are Center, Point Guard, and Shooting Guard. First I’m going to go with talking about Center. What you have to do is to pass it to your teammates and it is “normally the tallest player on the team, and often has a great deal of strength and body mass as well” (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Center_(basketball)). Now Point Guard is someone that is in the back court that directs their teammates (offense) around the court. It is sometimes easy to do, but sometimes hard so practice with people to get used to it . Shooting guard is very special job to do. First off, the main objective is to score points for his/her team and they will “ask their shooting guards to bring up the ball as well”(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shooting_guard).
Now the skills you need to be a good at are shooting, dribbling, drills, layups, physical shape, and taking directions. Mostly everyone knows about shooting, drilling, layups, and physical shape, but the two skills that people mostly don’t know is drills and taking directions. Drills are basically how you do while practicing before a game or just to get better at it. Some of the drills that some people do in practice are shooting, dribbling, passing, footwork, and defensive work, it’s just like doing the stuff you either do in a team or in gym. Taking direction is to have the skill of being able to listen to the coach and take directions from them on how to get better. These are some skills that are what you do in basketball and also practice.
Now up to the grade of high school and college you would be able to do more skills and you would have to do more practice for hours. In high school it’s going to be more competitive and harder work because it’s a big deal because you’re getting used to the procedures and plays then just in Middle School or Elementary. In college there will be more coaches that will pressure you to get best. Then coaches from NBA(National Basketball Association) or WNBA(Womens Basketball Association) once they watch your plays they will write notes about you and then eventually they will draft you. Then you will be able to talk to them and you will go the pros (national) and pick your team that you want to play or either they will assign you to a team. Once you start becoming a Pro then you will be able to meet other people around the world and the best part is that you get paid a lot of money!
This is about basketball skills, what to do, and etc. If you read this thank you for reading this story and I hope you will be interested in playing basketball like I do. But if you love sports practice every single day no matter what is happening. WORK HARD AND PLAY HARD! And remember: Never Give Up!
