9 movies, 3 trilogies, 1 Saga. The entire Skywalker Saga is the subject today. The 3 prequels: The Phantom Menace (1999), Attack Of The Clones (2002), Revenge Of The Sith (2005), the Originals: A New Hope (1977), Empire Strikes Back (1980), Return Of The Jedi (1983), and the Sequels: The Force Awakens (2015), The Last Jedi (2017), Rise Of Skywalker (2019). I will be ranking the Trilogies from worst to first and determine the best Star Wars trilogy made. I have already ranked each trilogy by movie and this will be the end of a story saga, The Ranked Star Wars Trilogy Saga! This will never catch on, will it? MASSIVE SPOILER ALERT
My opinion for the worst trilogy would be the Sequels. I think that this trilogy’s downfall is that there were 2 different directors. They both had a different vision and the movies paid the price. The Force Awakens heavily copied A New Hope and was a bad start to the trilogy. Now The Last Jedi was terrible and ruined the trilogy. It was funny and tried to be Marvel halfway through the LAST STAR WARS TRILOGY. They also didn’t show Palpatine coming back at the end they showed a kid just cleaning. They really wasted the ending and if it was done by JJ Abrams it probably wouldn’t have shone a kid they would have shone Palpatine. Now my next problem is Palpatine himself. He died. Reviving him ruined everything. It copied the other 2 trilogies by having him be the big bad. I love the originals and you will see this later but this was terrible and a big mess.
For my second favorite trilogy, I will choose The Prequels. I know, Surprise, surprise, surprise alright. I really spoiled the end with the last sentence of the previous paragraph. This Trilogy is really perfect for me. Giving Anikin a face, Obi-Wan a back story, and an explanation for the empire and clone wars, PERFECT! Some of the problems are that the time hops really don’t work. There are like 10 years between each movie and there is so much that happens that we only get to hear. The Phantom Menace for me is a great movie. It has a great bad guy that has a scary look and an AWESOME lightsaber. Since then, double-bladed lightsabers have grown super popular and I really like them and that would be my lightsaber of choice. Attack Of The Clones is really boring for me. I really think they spend too much time on Anikin and Padme and that is weird to me. The dialog was weird and when I first watched it I didn’t understand because it was romance and I was 4. I still just think it is unnecessary. Revenge Of The Sith is an absolute masterpiece! It completes Anakin’s life and really shows how and why he became Darth Vader.
My absolute favorite Trilogy is the Original! These are pure Star Wars. The beginning and the end. I don’t know what to say. The cast is the best, no one ever could fit the roles as well. The idea, the settings, the way it was made, these three movies are awesome. These movies, specifically these three, were my childhood. I played Star Wars, I watched Star Wars, I even pretended I was in the movie and an actual character. A New Hope is amazing. George Lucas had to spend years thinking up all these names and characters because they are amazingly named. Who would choose the name of Obi-Wan? No one! It is the perfect name because it isn’t a normal name yet you can remember it. Han, Chewbacca, Darth Vader, Stormtrooper I mean how? The Empire Strikes back was genius, it was the movie that kept everyone engaged because they lose. What happens next, where is Han, what will happen to Han? They kept us wondering and wishing the next movie would come and it was amazing. Now, Return Of The Jedi was also perfect. It starts by saving Han, finishing Luke’s training, and redeeming Darth Vader. No one ever saw that coming, it came out of nowhere. It also gave us new characters and fun Ewoks. I didn’t really like Ewoks though. It was originally going to be Wookies and I would have liked that better.
It is finished, I really had a great time doing this. I revisited what I feel and enjoyed a lot of it. I think that I may have been a little unfair to the Sequels but I really just think that after 2 trilogies of similarities that Disney cheaped out and just wanted money and didn’t care what we the fans wanted. I can go on and on but I think I got the basics and I don’t have enough space or time to say all that I feel. I do think that the directors tried their hardest but they really just didn’t know what Star Wars is and they should have asked Goerge Lucas for help or just have him direct and make the movies. Altogether, the Star Wars franchise has made about 10 billion dollars. Not only are George Lucas’s ideas genius but people like them too. 10 billion, just think. Now go, may the force be with you, and godspeed rebels.
