On July 5th, 2021 our news team went to Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City. The Royals played the Cincinnati Reds that day. As we got there, there were super long lines for everything. We saw everyone find their seats a little before the first pitch happened.  The seats were filled with blue and with them, you see a spec of red here and there. Then the first pitch happened. 

All the players took the field. The Reds went to bat first. There was one out in the game. Then some hit the ball they made it to first.   Another player went to bat. He had a strike, he hit the ball and it got caught in the outfield. The player on first tags up and makes it to second. The player next up to bat with two outs. He hits the ball and out on first that ends the inning. 

The bottom of the first started with Whit Merrifield the second baseman up to bat first. He hits the ball, Joey Votto the reds the first baseman touches the base and the royals have one out.  Up next is Carlos Santana the first baseman for the royals is up to bat. He hits the ball, he gets to first then he makes it to second.  Up next is Salvador Perez the catcher for the royals he hits the ball to the outfield and it’s caught to end the inning.  

Now that we have gone over parts of the game let’s go see what there is to do. On the outfield side of the stadium, there is stuff like batting cages, putt-putt, and a playground for the kids. Food-wise there’s bbq nachos, hot dogs, and tacos. There is anything you could want. Then they have stores with merchandise with shirts hats anything you could want item-wise with your favorite team item. When the game ended the Royals lost. 

So I asked my parents some questions. I asked them the same questions. The first one is What are your favorite things about games? My mom said “ Watching the game with fans that love it as much as I do.”. My dad responded with “how with a swing of a bat the whole game could change.”. The second question is Who was your favorite player. My mom said “ Alex Gordon or if you want a current one it’s Whit Merrifield” my dad said “Whit Merrifield.”. The last question is what is your favorite thing to eat there they both said “cheesy corn brisket-achos”

So now that the story is over I would like to thank my mom and my dad for letting me interview them. If you didn’t know anything about baseball games now you may have learned a bit. I would hope this may encourage you to go to a baseball game.
