Have you ever wanted to know more about the best NFL defensive players of all time? Well, this is an article about the top 5 best defensive NFL players of all time. The candidates are Lawrence Taylor, Ray Lewis, Derrick Thomas, Michael Strahan, and Reggie White. You will have to read to the end to see who number one is.

Coming in at 5th place we have Derrick Thomas. Derrick Thomas played 11 seasons in the NFL all as a Kansas City Chief. Here are some of his stats. Some of his awards include 1989 defensive rookie of the year, and the 1993 Walter Payton award. He is also a 9x pro bowler, 2x All-Pro and a hall of famer. Sadly, Derrick Thomas was injured after a car crash caused him to be paralyzed and he eventually died.

In 4th place, we have Ray Lewis. Ray Lewis played 17 seasons as an NFL player on the Baltimore Ravens. Here are some of his stats. Some of his awards include 2000 def player of the year, 2003 def player of the year. He was also a 12x pro bowler, a 7x all pro and a 2x super bowl winner. He is also a hall of famer. Ray Lewis retired in 2013 after having a great career.

For 3rd place we have Michael Strahan. Michael Strahan played 15 NFL seasons all with the New York Giants. Here are some of his stats. Some of his awards include 2000’s all-pro team, 1x super bowl champ, and 2001 defensive player of the year. He was also a 7x pro-bowler and 4x all-pro. Michael Strahan held the single-season sack record for 20 years before T.J Watt broke it a couple days ago. Michael Strahan retired in 2007 after many accomplishments in his career.

In 2nd place, there is Reggie White. Reggie White played 15 NFL seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, Green Bay Packers and the Carolina Panthers. Here are some of his stats. Some of his awards include All 1980’s team, All 1990’s team, 1987 defensive player of the year, and 1998 defensive player of the year. He was also a 13x pro bowler, 8x all-pro, and a 1x super bowl champ. Reggie White retired in 2000 after an amazing career.

Coming in at the 1st spot we have Lawrence Taylor. Lawrence Taylor played 14 seasons with the New York Giants. Here are some of his stats. Some of his awards include 1986 MVP, all 1980’s team, 1981 defensive player of the year, 1982 defensive player of the year, 1986 def player of the year, 1986 Bert Bell award. He was also a 10x pro bowler, 8x all-pro, and 2x super bowl champ. Lawrence Taylor retired in 1993 after winning a lot of awards and having one of the best careers ever.
